Dr Fiona Mcconnochie
MA (Hons), MPhil, PhD, Dip Edu., CPsychol (BPS),
is an award-winning specialist consultant in sport and performance psychology with over 25 years experience and a world class pedigree in sport, music and dance. As a former (RU World Champion in Highland Dancing and Championship-winning Piper) Fiona’s specialist niche is in the Scottish Traditional Arts. Her background and interest in this comes from originally being taught the bagpipes by her Father - (a former solo competitor and Pipe Major of The Clan MacLeod Pipe Band) and her Mother - (who taught her Highland Dancing and who was herself a former competitor, judge, teacher and on the board of the BATD).
Throughout her life Fiona has worked primarily in academia and was Director of Programs as well as a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology and also Sport Psychology whilst at Abertay University Dundee. However, since Fiona has carried out private consultancy work for over the past 25 years, she decided the time was now right to follow her heart and expand upon this interest and go full time as a Specialist Consultant in Sport, Traditional Music and Dance - working not only in Scotland on one-to-one’s and in group sessions, but also delivering lectures and workshops worldwide on an international basis.
Fiona contributes to Winter and Summer Schools, Solo Competitive Pipers, Dancers and Pipe Bands both at home and abroad and is frequently invited to attend Festivals and Special Piping and Dancing Seminar Events to deliver Lectures and Workshops such as Piping Live! and CLASP and has also worked extensively providing Master Class sessions with various Pipe Band Associations throughout the world. Throughout her consultancy, She has worked with Scottish, British, USA, Canadian, European, Commonwealth, Para- Olympian, Olympic gold medalists, and World Champions as well as beginners and novice performers.
Fiona is currently completing two books for Piping and Dancing in the art of Mental Coaching and Performance which are due to be released soon.
